課程介紹
English B 在IB中隸屬於第二學科組語言B，也就是習得語言。English B 是幾乎所有母語為非英語的學生會選修的學科 （英語母語學生需選擇English A） 。在新版大綱中（由2020年考試期開始），五個核心主題包括： Identities（身份認同）， Experiences（體驗）， Human ingenuity （人類創造）， Social organization（社會組織）， Sharing the planet（共享地球）， 並且需要另外學習兩部原版文學作品。

課程目標
本課程的目的是鼓勵學生質疑語言和文字產生的意義，它們很少是直言不諱和明白無誤的，而往往是可爭辯的。

課程大綱
本課程的設計是靈活的。教師有機會以反映學生的興趣和關注的方式建構課程，與此同時也培養學生掌握一系列可以靈活轉換應用的技能。既要了解文字中為創造意義而使用的各種形式要素，也要探索意義如何受到由文化而決定的閱讀習慣的影響，以及產生和接受它們的環境的影響。

考試形式
在新大綱中，English B 的考核內容分為兩個部分：IA （內部評分）和EA （外部評分， Paper1和 Paper2）。內部評估的形式為口試，外部評估則是最終的IB大考中的Paper 1和Paper 2。英語B的口試分為互動口語Interactive Oral和獨立口語Individual Oral兩種，滿分為20分。
解讀：
Paper1閱讀題型包括：理解題（單選、多選）、詞彙題、指代題、判斷正誤（需要找到依據）、同義詞替換、主旨題、推斷題、標題題等。
Paper2寫作，Interactive oral互動口語
