In Tang Dynasty lived a famous painter by the name of Dai Song。

Every time his painting was hung out for display, hordes of people would come to watch and all of them would nod in approval。

Many rich people would compete to fork out big money for his work。

Legend had it that once Dai Song’s good friend asked him to paint a picture。

What should he paint?

Dai Song thought for a moment and decided to paint “Tussling Cows”。

At times he would apply light strokes with deep-colored inks, and other times he would use fine brushes to draw details。

The painting was quickly finished。

Spectators around showered him with accolades。

“This painting is really lifelike and truly a masterful creation,” praised one merchant。

“This painting comes to life。

Only masterly brush strokes could come up with this kind of painting,” a tutor lauded。

“Your painting gets it all wrong。

It is dead wrong,” a cowhand pushed his way in and spoke out loudly。

These words had the effect of a thunder and everybody was stunned at hearing them。

Dai Song asked the cowhand to come forward and said to him in a friendly tone: “Little brother, I would like to hear your comments。

Please tell me where do I go wrong with my painting?”

The cowhand pointed at a cow in the painting and said: “This cow’s tail is painted wrong。

When two cows are fighting, they apply all their strength in their horns and they would tuck their tails between their legs。

This cow’s tail which you draw is raised up。

That is how it would look when it drives pestering flies away with its tail。

You must not have checked out the situation when two cows are fighting。”

When Dai Song heard, he felt very ashamed。

He gestured appreciation by moving two cupped hands up and down and said: “Thank you for pointing that out。”
