此錢幣面文“光緒通寶”四字，楷書書體，直讀，背滿文。其漢文楷書書寫極其規範端美，筆筆劃劃，清晰有加，橫直豎立，起頓有力，轉折見鋒，可謂力道十足。

至此，還需特別注意的，一是，其“寳”字為“爾寳”，且在“貝”字稍見有宋體書意；二是，也是最為特別的在於其“通”字，很鮮明的“雙點通”寫法，這與幾乎所有“單點通”寫法，完全不同，而且書意也與所有該錢“通”字寫法不同；三是，“光緒通寶”四字字形更為寬闊，大於其它各局所鑄之字形. 毫無疑問，本品無論漢文還是滿文，其端莊雋美的書相，均顯示其官局出品應有之貌質，偽制極難做到如此，故而首先從書相判定其版式獨特，開門無疑。品背右區域性雖然有鏽蝕，然整體鑄制十分精整，鑄體雖不太厚實，然正是機制幣之標準厚薄，無異無邪。其鑄相顯示，方正圓矩，地章坦平，穿輪乾淨。續觀其字廓，可謂相對深竣挺拔，鼓凸自然有度，恰到好處。其中，可見穿口中間尚有整潔的餘銅，此乃機制衝壓未能貫穿所致，從另個跡象印證了機制工藝客觀上留下的特徵。毫無疑問，透過本品光整精到的鑄相，顯示了機制幣的美製特徵，結合其雋美的書相特徵，可以毫不虛妄地說，其乃官鑄機制之品，偽不能及，其門洞開矣。

本品包漿濃重，雖無綠鏽裹縛，然可見包漿尤其老道，皮殼生成，深淺相間，分佈極為自然。其漿質皮痂潤和，附著十分緊實，一派自然天成之相鮮明。其中，可見本品背右部，鼓凸銅刺和凹坑，此乃這部分被曾經直接接觸在土中抑或與某種腐蝕性較強的物質有所接觸，故而形成土或其它物質腐蝕所形成，而非鑄造之痕跡。續觀材質，可識其紅銅質地鮮明，再看銅色，則是十分熟舊，此等銅相新偽蓋不能得之矣。無需再述，本品鏽漿之相可謂昭然一派自然天成，真真切切，其門不叩自開矣。
