英語句子的“yet”怎麼理解？

原句子主要是這樣的，“…to demonstrate how they‘re acting for the long term and how the decisions they take don’t harm the interests of those yet to be born。”

雖然能夠理解句子的意思，但是對於裡面的“yet”一詞始終不能夠有一個恰當的理解，問了度娘也十分的困惑，懇請各位大佬指點一二。
