Jensen Ackles is opening up about the series finale of his beloved The CW series Supernatural and how he felt “uneasy” with the way things ended。

Jensen and co-star Jared Padalecki decided to go to the writers room ahead of the start on production for season 15， where they learned what would happen to their characters。

“Yeah， so， during the hiatus between season 14 and 15， Jared and I went out to LA and sat down in the writers room， which I think is the first time we’ve ever done that，” Jensen said。 “It wasn’t like a brainstorming session。 It was like， this is what we have， take it or leave it。 And I just walked out of there kind of uneasy。 I don’t know if it was just the fact that I just heard the ending of a show that had been going for 15 years and I’m just too close to it to really accept a finality to it。”

Jensen added， “It certainly wasn’t settling in as easy as I kind of hoped。 I struggled with it。”

He then spoke about the conversation he had with series creator Eric Kripke about the final season。 He said， “He just kind of put things in a perspective that really helped me kind of identify why I was having trouble with it。 But also why it was a really great idea for an ending。 And so from then on， I was kind of all in。”

It’s the end of an era because The CW’s series Supernatural is officially over following the emotional series finale that just aired。

During Sam and Dean’s final hunt， Dean was pierced in the back and unable to move from a post。

Dean （Jensen Ackles） said to his brother Sam （Jared Padalecki）， “Stay with me， please。 You knew it was always going to end like this for me… It’s ok。 It’s good。 We had one helluva ride， man。”

Sam wanted to find a way to keep Dean alive， but Dean made Sam vow to not bring him back。

In an emotional moment， Dean told Sam， “I’m so proud of you， Sam。 You know that？ I’ve always looked up to you… You’re stronger than me。 You always have been… It was always you and me。 It’s always been you and me。”

We then see that Sam lived a long life and had a son that he named Dean。 Many， many years later， Sam dies and goes to heaven and meets up with his brother Dean。 The series ended with them hugging in heaven。
