Dafeng—A City of Culture
施公故里。中國四大名著之一——《水滸傳》，講述了108位梁山好漢在梁山起義、聚義以及四處征戰的故事，是中國歷史上第一部以農民起義為題材的長篇小說。大豐白駒鎮是《水滸傳》作者施耐庵故里，施耐庵在這裡生活並完成《水滸傳》創作。

， one of the four great classical novels in China， relates the stories about 108 heroes’ gathering and rising up in Liangshan and fought around the country。 This is the first full-length novel in Chinese history that focuses on the theme of peasant uprising。 Baiju Township in Dafeng is the hometown of the author of the novel—Shi Naian who lived all his life and completed his masterpiece here。
知青“第二故鄉”。1968年至1978年，先後有8萬多名上海知識青年來到大豐境內屬於上海的三個農場，在黃海灘塗上參加農場建設，貢獻了自己的青春。為紀念這段歷史，大豐於2008年建成大豐知青農場並正式對外開放。
The second hometown for Educated Youths： from 1968 to 1978， over 80，000 Educated Youths came to the three farms located in Dafeng from Shanghai， and took part in the farm construction on the beach of the Yellow Sea。 They devoted their youth to this land。 In order to memorize this phase of history， an Educated Youths Farm was built in local place and made open to the public in 2008。
中國古鹽運天然博物館。大豐草堰鎮位於江蘇沿海北部，歷史上盛產海鹽，更因有范仲淹築堤御海和鹽民張士誠起義而出名。2001年，江蘇省人民政府命名草堰為“古鹽運集散地保護區”，這是中國惟一的一個以海鹽文化為內涵的歷史文化保護區。
China Ancient Salt Transportation Natural Museum： Caoyan Township in Dafeng is situated in the coastal north of Jiangsu， abounding with sea salt since ancient times。 This place is known for the Fan Zhongyan’s banking against sea water intrusion as well as the salt merchant Zhang Shicheng’s uprising。 In 2001 the People’s Government of Jiangsu Province officially named Caoyan as the “ancient salt collection and distribution site natural protection zone”， and thus this place became the first historical and cultural protection zone with sea salt culture as the main contents in China。
傳統工藝別具匠心。在大豐，以瓷刻、麥稈畫為代表的傳統手工藝製作蜚聲海內外。瓷刻是以瓷體為載體，鋼鑿和鐵錘為主，鑿刻瓷體產生崩瓷效果，使藝術作品物象機理再現於瓷體表面的地方傳統美術，被工藝美術專家、文化學者喻為“瓷器上的刺繡”。
Exquisite traditional handicraft： Dafeng is also known for its traditional handicraft such as porcelain sculpture and wheat straw patchwork。 The porcelain sculpture is a kind of regional traditional art which uses porcelain as carrier and clink and hammer as tools to create cracking effect on the porcelain and represent the object mechanism on the surface of porcelain。 It is called “embroidery on porcelain” by some artists and academicians。
文化名人輩出。大豐可考證歷史有2500多年，經歷滄海桑田、海水東遷及數次規模移民，形成了大氣包容的城市文化特質。近年來，這裡走出了一批享譽海內外的藝術家。陸天寧的畫作被德國、義大利、英國、美國、澳大利亞及臺灣等國家和地區的收藏機構和收藏家收藏。
A great number of celebrities of culture： the history of Dafeng can be traced to 2，500 years ago。 After ups and downs of time， eastward transition， and several large-scale immigrations， the city becomes exceptionally tolerant。 In recent years a batch of famous artists stands out from this place。 For instance， the drawings of Lu Tianning are collected by many public institutions and private connoisseurs in such countries and regions as Germany， Italy， America， Australia and Taiwan， etc。
