Unless UCSD requires a waitlist essay （which if they do， I strongly suggest doing it）， there is not much else to do。 Do not send letters of rec。 or other docs。 And， given how large of a school it is， I would not email the office of admissions。

As far as appealing， that is a tough call。 For most universities， an appeal is ideal if you have new， compelling information to provide that was not included on your original application。 The chances of being admitted off of the waitlist seems to be much greater than that of an appeal。

At this point， I encourage you to have some hope。 Enroll at another fantastic school， cross your fingers， and have faith in your amazing talents and abilities。 Believe that you will be taken off the waitlist， but prepare for the chance that you may take your talents elsewhere。 There is little to nothing else that you can do at this point。
