多快好省？JD+MBA瞭解一下！

JD 和MBA一直以來都是不少精英們關注的熱門專案。如果兩個專案分別就讀，一般需要5年的時間（JD 3年，MBA 2年）。如果有機會在4年甚至3年內同時拿下這兩個“高薪”學位，你是否心動了呢？

正如哥大所說：Rapidly increasing technological innovation and globalization have shattered traditional barriers between fields of study。 JD/MBA Program gives you the cross-disciplinary tools to solve today’s most pressing challenges in the business world （字面翻譯：快速增長的技術創新和全球化打破了不同領域之間的傳統壁壘。JD/MBA聯合專案提供了跨學科的工具來解決當今商業世界中最緊迫的挑戰） 這樣的一個涵蓋法律和商事領域的聯合學位， 無論是對於有志於在法律領域還是商事領域的申請們來說，都大有裨益。那麼JD/MBA學位的具體情況如何？又該如何申請，本篇我們將一一揭秘。

傳統的JD/MBA聯合學位需要4年讀完，但是現在，也有不少學校開設了3年制JD/MBA專案，縮短了整整一年時間，以便讓申請者們更快地進入就業市場。

那麼這個專案如何申請呢？我們特別整理了14所最受關注的法學院的申請要求，供大家參考。

官方申請說明

1。 Yale University

Students must be admitted to the Yale School of Management and Yale Law School

independently.

Students applying to the four-year MBA-JD program may apply for the both programs simultaneously， apply to Yale Law School during the first year at Yale SOM， or apply to Yale SOM during the first two years at Yale Law School。

Students applying to the three-year MBA-JD program may apply to both programs simultaneously or apply to Yale SOM during their first year at Yale Law School。 Students already enrolled at Yale SOM may not apply for the three-year MBA-JD。

2。 Stanford University

The Joint JD/MBA Degree Program requires

application to, and acceptance for admission by, both

the Law School （SLS） and the Graduate School of Business （GSB）。

3。 Harvard University

Prospective students must

apply to and be separately admitted to both

the Law School and the Business School， each of which will independently review and admit applicants。

4。 Columbia University

Three year:

The joint Three-Year JD/MBA application is now

available through the Business School.

Please keep in mind that you

must also submit

a Credential Assembly Service （CAS） report via a supplemental form， which is now available

through LSAC

。

Four year:

Applications for admission to Columbia Law School and Columbia Business School must

be filed separately. Each school’s admissions decisions are based solely on that school’s selection criteria and, accordingly, are determined independently.

4。 Chicago University

Applicants interested in the three-year or four-year JD/MBA must

complete the joint application.

Applicants

must also create an account with the Law School Admissions Council (LSAC),

submit the JD/MBA Form through LSAC， and submit all undergraduate and graduate transcripts through the Credential Assembly Service （CAS）。

6。 New York University

Students must

be admitted separately to both

schools in order to participate in the dual degree program。 Each school has a separate Admissions Committee and admissions process。

You may be admitted to both programs, only one program, or neither program in this admissions process.

6。 University of Pennsylvania

Three year:

Applicants to the three-year Carey JD/MBA Program must apply via

an integrated application.

Applicants should submit the JD/MBA application

through Wharton’s application system,

which includes the elements of the full-time MBA application plus a University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School supplement。 In addition to submitting the JD/MBA application through Wharton’s application system， applicants also must register with the

Law School Admission Council (LSAC) Credential Assembly Service (CAS).

Please do not fill out nor submit the First Year JD application through the LSAC Electronic Application service。 Applicants should arrange to have all transcripts sent to LSAC from each college or university attended and to have duplicate copies of the letters of recommendation submitted through Wharton’s application system also submitted to LSAC。 Applicants must send official test score reports directly to Penn Carey Law at the time of application （Your CAS report will not be released to us until at least two letters of recommendation are on file with LSAC and assigned to the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School）。

Applicants to the three-year JD/MBA program will receive a

single, joint decision.

Four Year:

Only current students

can apply to the four-year JD/MBA program。 Students apply separately to each school。

8。 University of Virginia

Students are required

to secure admission separately

to the Darden School and the School of Law through the normal admissions processes of the two schools。 The applicant will be held to the same standards as any other applicant， and the fact that s/he is a candidate for the dual-degree program will not be considered in the admissions process。 Application may be made prior to entrance， prior to starting the third year of Law， or prior to starting the second year of Darden。 No students are admitted to the dual-degree program after this time。

9。 University of California， Berkeley

You must

apply and be admitted independently to both

departments。 Applications either may be submitted concurrently in the same year， or they can be submitted sequentially， one year after the other。 Applications to the law school are welcome from students who are in their first year in one of the other participating schools or departments。 In accordance with our GRE and GMAT policy， you may apply to the JD program with a valid GRE or GMAT score in lieu of the LSAT。

10。 Duke University

Submit a JD application to the Law School and indicate your intention to apply for the dual degree on that form。

Concurrently,

submit your application to the Fuqua School of Business for the MBA。 Follow their directions to indicate that you are also applying to the Law School。

10。 University of Michigan

Applicants interested in the JD/MBA dual degree program must gain

separate and independent admission to both

the Law School and the Ross School of Business。 Applicants should contact the Admissions Office of each school for application and admission information。 If you are enrolled in a graduate program in another school or department at the University， the Law School will accept a valid GRE， GMAT， or MCAT score in lieu of an LSAT score； otherwise， a valid LSAT score is required。

12。 Northwestern University

You can apply with

one integrated application through Kellogg Admissions

and an eligible GMAT or GRE score。 You do not need to submit an LSAT score or a separate law school application。

Admissions decisions are only for the joint degree program — candidates will not be admitted to only one program.

13。 Cornell University

Three year:

Applicants must

apply to, and be accepted by, both schools,

although a joint coordinating committee of the two schools will consider the applications。

Four year:

Applicants must apply to， and be accepted by，

both schools.

15。 Georgetown University

Applicants interested in pursuing a joint degree will apply to the J。D。 program and graduate or doctoral degree program

separately.

Each program has separate admission procedures and separate applications。 You must be admitted to both programs separately before you can enter the joint degree。

總結和細節解釋

為了方便閱讀，我們特別做了總結，並標註了學校所開設的JD/MBA專案的具體就讀時長。（Both代表商學院和法學院同時需要申請）

按照此表，

我們可以將JD/MBA專案分為三大類：

1）

第一類為傳統的4年制JD/MBA專案，符合這類的學校需要同時遞交法學院和商學院的申請，也要同時滿足兩邊的錄取條件，因為稽核是分開的，

即： Each school’s admissions decisions are based solely on that school’s selection criteria and， accordingly， are determined independently， 一般會給出：

只錄一個，同時錄取兩個，或者兩個都不錄的結果。

此處，康奈爾*情況比較特殊，筆者在此特別說明：康奈爾3年制專案，雖然也需要分別向法學院和商學院提交申請，但是錄取方會給出一個雙方的綜合考量，而不像傳統的4年制專案那樣，分別申請，同時分別考量。

2）

第二類為聯合申請（joint application），需要在申請系統（一般是商學院的系統）和LSAC同時操作。

以上14個學校中，符合這種情況的有兩個學校，即哥大的3年制專案和芝加哥的3年制和4年制專案。

3）

第三類為只給一個綜合結果的綜合申請（integrated application）

，以上14個學校中，符合這種情況的也有兩個學校，即賓大的3年制專案和西北的3年制專案。

那麼這三類應如何考量呢？

首先需要說明的是，

這14所學校的JD/MBA專案，無論是3年制，還是4年制，除了在申請JD時可以申請，還可以在開始讀JD後，即1L期間進行申請（絕大多數也可以在讀MBA時，進行申請）。個別學校的4年制專案，還允許在2L期間申請。

基於這種情況，

考慮到4年制JD專案本身就需要單獨向兩個學院提交申請，互不干擾，所以只考了LSAT的申請者們可以考慮在順利申請到JD後，再進行MBA申請，拿下JD/MBA 雙學位。當然，如果申請者沒有考LSAT，而是GRE，考慮到學校接受GRE的一個初衷就是擴大diversity, 申請者們如果用GRE直接申請JD/MBA，也會更有說服力一些

（此處需要尤為注意法學院對GRE的接受政策，其中伯克利和密歇根法學院就規定了除本校在讀的研究生申請JD外，其餘申請者必須提交LSAT，而NYU則規定，申請JD/MBA需要有LSAT，所以律政強調申請者們在申請前，一定要熟悉學校最新政策）。

哥大3年制和芝加哥的3年制/4年制JD/MBA專案，是筆者認為最適合想一次性申請JD/MBA聯合專案，且只考了GRE的申請者申請的。

我們先看看兩個學校對標準化考試的要求。

哥大：

Candidates may apply to the Three-Year JD/MBA Program using the GMAT test score only。 Similarly， candidates may also opt to use the GRE only。

The LSAT test score may not be used as the sole basis for applying to the Program. Candidates opting to use the LSAT as a basis for evaluation must also submit a valid GMAT or GRE test score.

芝加哥：

Applicants must submit a valid GRE， GMAT or LSAT score。 We

do not require an LSAT score

， but if one exists you are required to provide it。

由此可知，哥大3年制和芝加哥的3年制/4年制JD/MBA專案並不要求LSAT成績， 且哥大另外規定，只有LSAT成績無法申請JD/MBA專案。但是，只有GRE成績，則完全可以申請，既化解了用GRE申請法學院的投機取巧之嫌，又非常符合學校擴充套件diversity的初衷。此外，相比於其他4年制專案的法學院和商學院完全獨立申請，哥大和芝加哥的專案更有聯合申請的意味：既需要商學院系統操作，又需要LSAC配合，但又不是完全獨立，同時簡化了相應程式，可以說最符合筆者心目中的“聯合學位申請”的意味。根據學校的官方說明，錄取結果也會出現只錄取法學院而沒錄取商學院的情況（或只錄取商學院而沒錄取法學院）。

最後，

我們談談賓大和西北的3年制JD/MBA專案。與其餘的JD/MBA專案不同，這兩個專案只給出一個統一的結果，而不像其他學校的專案那樣“各自為政”（即法學院和商學院單獨給“各自”的結果）。賓大的JD/MBA主要透過沃頓商學院申請，但同時也需要操作LSAC進行配合，而西北，則只需要透過凱洛格商學院進行申請，“商學院”意味十足。同時，這兩個專案都不需要LSAT，且只有LSAT還不行。

讓我們來看看學校具體怎麼說的。

賓大：

All applicants to the Carey JD/MBA Program

must take the GRE or the GMAT.

The LSAT is not required。

If an applicant takes the LSAT, they must also take the GRE or the GMAT.

西北：

You can apply with one integrated application through Kellogg Admissions and an eligible

GMAT or GRE score.

You

do not need to submit an LSAT score

or a separate law school application。

我知道肯定會有不少腦子轉的快的申請者們會想：那有沒有可能既申請JD/MBA，又申請JD來增大錄取機會呢？我們看看賓大的規定：You may not apply to the Carey JD/MBA Program and simultaneously apply individually to the Wharton MBA Program and/or the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School JD Program in the same application cycle。 Once you have submitted an application for the Carey JD/MBA Program， you cannot switch to the other degree programs or vice versa。 也就是說，對於賓大來說，不可以既提交JD/MBA聯合學位的申請，又提交單JD的申請。這也不難理解，畢竟賓大的JD/MBA申請需要LSAC的配合，所以只能JD/MBA和JD二者擇一，也是合情合理，由此我們可以推斷，需要LSAC 配合或者操作的不可以同時申請兩個專案。西北的JD/MBA專案因只需要透過凱洛格商學院進行申請，不需要透過LSAC，根據學校的回覆，可以同時申請JD/MBA和JD這兩個專案-If you are intending to apply to the joint program， JD-MBA， you should only submit the one application through Kellogg。 If you would like to be considered for the JD program separately， you can submit an application through LSAC for the JD program。

律政觀點

總的來看，JD/MBA聯合學位的申請，給只考了GRE/GMAT的申請者們提供了另一種選擇。當然，多（學位多），快（時間短），好（認可高），省（花費少）的JD/MBA學位，申請難度自然不低，特別是對想申請四年制JD/MBA的申請者來說，需要同時滿足兩邊的錄取條件，大家量力而行，如果無法同時兼顧，不妨先進入法學院後，再做申請。
