的重要性不言而喻。研究表明，在大學裡學習，學生需10，000以上詞彙量，所以，若想在託福/雅思考得較好成績，一般來講，詞彙量都需要8，000+。

在較短時間內（有效的備考時間）迅速擴大詞彙量，沒有多少捷徑可走

若一定要找，背高頻詞彙

應該算是一個。那麼，有沒有什麼

權威的、含金量很高的高頻詞彙表

呢？有的。

1953年，一個叫Richard West的英語教師/研究者開發出一個“英語高頻詞表”（ A General Service List of English Words，簡稱為GSL），大約包含2000個最最常用的英語單詞。雖然詞表已是大半個世紀之前的了，但這些詞彙的使用頻率並沒有發生太大的變化。

英語多達600，000 個詞族（注意，是詞族word families，而不是單詞words），你如果掌握了這詞表中的2000個單詞，那當你去讀一般內容的英文文章時，文中90%左右的單詞你是認識的。這2000個單詞，我們高中畢業時應該就學的差不多了。

的Averil Coxhead所開發出的“學術英語詞彙表” （Academic Word List），剔除GSL已列出的2000詞之後，又挑出570個單詞，分為10個word list：

”，但其實這些單詞並不偏不怪，因為這個詞彙表並非針對某個特定學科，而是所有學科中的高頻詞彙，所以，其實

這些是academic English中的基礎詞彙

。

關於如何使用這個詞彙表，我想提出兩點建議：

1。 這不是簡單的570個單詞，而是570個headwords of word families。

以analyze一詞為例，analyze是一個headword，即“詞目”，我們可以理解成是個“家長詞”，而由它引領的詞彙大家庭還有多個成員：analyzer， analysis， analyst， analytic， analytical， analytically， analyzing等等。

所以，你記憶analyze時，稍微多花一點點精力，把它的家庭成員們也都記下來，這樣，你

掌握這個詞彙表之後，詞彙量擴充的絕不僅僅是570個

。

2。

我絕不認為，你背了這570個單詞，就可以去應付那些考試了

。不是的。

而是，你在開始大量背單詞備考之前，先保證把這些單詞背過；或者，你在背完了備考詞彙書之後，來看看這個詞彙表，看看最關鍵的這些單詞你是否都掌握了，因為，

如果有人給你劃考試範圍的話，那這些個單詞就是重點中的重點。
